The UK government set ambitious goals to move ahead to a fibre-enabled UK. Against this backdrop, WIK has analyzed experiences in France, Italy, Germany and Sweden and reflects the variable factors that drive take-up of gigabit services.
Our study highlights a number of innovative approaches that have been used elsewhere to boost demand - including broadband labeling schemes, vouchers and tax breaks for broadband and digital services. Bringing the industry together to build a common plan for migration to gigabit networks and switch-off of copper, will also be important in supporting digitization in all areas of life and work.
