The future demand for data and the role of gigabit networks are central issues in the context of broadband network roll-out. Based on WIK’s market potential model, WIK has forecasted the potential demand for very high bandwidths. The results have been published in several studies and have raised great interest. Therefore, WIK presents and explains the WIK market potential model and the assumptions made for the demand forecast in this discussion paper.
