On 26 October 2022, WIK held an online workshop on "Providing and using open cadastral data" with about 40 experts from land survey offices (from federal states in Germany), companies, science and civic organizations. The following speakers showed the varied potential and described challenges in providing and using open cadastral data:
- Dr. Andreas Richter, Thüringer Landesamt für Bodenmanagement und Geoinformationen (TLBG) on „Providing open cadastral data in thuringia: potentials and challenges“
- Dr. Tobias Klug, wer denkt was GmbH on „Cadastral data for a clean and accessible city: Mängelmelder.de“
- Amrit Schliesing und Jonas Luft, Modoplus GmbH on „Identifying and exploiting the potential of construction with the help of cadastral data“
- Dipl.-Ing. Malte Fichtner, tetraeder.solar gmbh on „Solar potential cadastre as an interactive map for renewable energies“
- Julia Wielgosch und Marina Happ, WIK on „Open cadastral data in Germany – an overview“
The workshop illustrated that Open Data breaks down barriers, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. Open cadastral data offers them the potential to develop new business-models, further develop existing products and increase their product quality. In Germany, however, this potential cannot be fully leveraged because cadastral data is available in varying scope and quality and at different costs and formats between the federal states.
