WIK and Öko-Institut have developed a new concept ("regulatory innovation zone") to better cope with the challenges of the German Energiewende. This instrument may be used to test new regulatory approaches in real world experiments limited in space and time. Secondly, the question has been addressed, how the German incentive regulation can be adapted to smart grids to avoid disadvantages for intelligent investments.
