The new conference "Interdisciplinary Perspectives on the Smart City" (IPSC) took place in Kaiserslautern from 13 to 14 June 2024. Over 100 experts from various scientific disciplines came together to discuss current research results and developments in the field of smart cities and smart regions. The Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering (IESE) organized the interdisciplinary conference together with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), the Technical University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) and the team “herzlich digital” of the city Kaiserslautern.
The IPSC conference facilitated a comprehensive, interdisciplinary dialogue between scientists and practitioners from the smart city sector and municipal administrations. WIK presented current research results on GovTech companies in Europe, open cadastral data in Germany and the use of LoRaWAN applications (Long Range Wide Area Network) for greater energy efficiency in German municipalities. The active participation and the total of 50 contributions reflected the great interest in the conference and its topics.
The program was completed by a dinner speech from Alexander Schweitzer, then Minister für Digitalisation, and now Prime Minister in German state Rheinland-Pfalz and Petra Dick-Walther, State Secretary for economic affairs at Fritz Walter Stadium.
