On behalf of the British regulator Ofcom WIK-Consult conducted a study that reviews modernization and efficiency programs of six selected postal operators (Austrian Post, Deutsche Post, Post Danmark, La Poste, PostNL and Swedish Posten). The study explains for each company under which market conditions they operate, how their postal operations are organized, and how these operators have improved efficiency during the last two decades to ensure financial viability. It provides a useful background for understanding postal operations and the concept of efficiency in this sector.
