On the basis of an empirical analysis on the situation of IT security in SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises) WIK carry out a study to gain sustainable insights and recommend actions for the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. This lays the foundation for raising awareness among businesses, stakeholders and decision-makers for the future task of increasing IT security. The study is conducted within the initiative "IT security in economy".
The results of the representative survey are either available for download as short version or as long version. Moreover, the summary briefly states possible supportive actions in order to improve the current situation regarding IT security in SMEs. Printed copies of the short study can be obtained from SMEs and interested institutions.
The initiative "IT Security in the economy" of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy aims to support small and medium-sized enterprises in the field of safe use of ICT systems. Together with IT security experts from science, business and administration, a foundation was created to strengthen awareness in IT security for small and medium-sized enterprises in the digital economy. Companies are enabled to improve their IT security by means of practical support measures.
