Martin Lundborg studied economics at the University of Jönköping (Sweden) and the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel. Since graduating in 1999, he has worked for various consultancies and for Vodafone. Until the end of 2017, Martin Lundborg worked for Detecon (a consulting subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom) in the area of telecommunications and digitalisation. Since 1 January 2018, he has been working for WIK as Head of Department for Communication and Innovation and heads the accompanying research for the BMWK funding programme "Mittelstand-Digital".
As a project manager in the field of digitalisation and telecommunications, Martin Lundborg has carried out projects on a total of five continents for ministries, public authorities, industry organisations, small and medium-sized enterprises and network operators. His various assignments include market studies on communication services for the digitalisation of companies, drafting decisions for ministries and public authorities on telecommunication and digitalisation issues, political advocacy in the field of tele-, media- and data communication, regulation of telecommunication markets, strategy and planning of broadband investments as well as determining the economic viability of IT outsourcing projects. Martin Lundborg has published numerous academic articles on these topics.
