Economic incentives could improve data sharing. The analysis outlines the path to a data-driven energy industry.

The analysis "The Data Economy in the Energy Industry" addresses a central issue of the digitization of the energy transition: Data can play an important role in this, but so far it has generally not been shared sufficiently with other market participants. Data exchange is often limited to meeting regulatory requirements. However, improved data availability can help to foster innovative solutions for the energy transition and disruptive business models.

By providing economic incentives for active data sharing in the sense of a data economy, the provision, exchange and use of data can increase. The analysis examines the current status and initial situation of a possible data economy in the energy industry and outlines the path towards a data-driven energy economy.
